This range of flange does not feature a raised sealing face and is therefore not suitable for pressure applications.  Originally designed for use in carbon steel, these flanges are manufactured from Plate or Bar and are now available in both stainless steel and copper alloys.  These flanges are often used in hygienic application such as food where corrosion and hygiene are the criteria for specification rather than cost.
